What is immersive?
The term “immersive” is derived from the word “immersion”, which means embedding, entering, immersing. Until the 2000s, it was mainly used to describe computer games in which the player was literally immersed. In other words, they became part of the game world in their own perception.
What does collaboration mean?
With Collaboration, we are finding an answer to the question of how we want to work, research and learn in the future. Universities, SMEs, trade, industry, start-ups, schools, educational organizations and many more can experience virtual and augmented reality up close and immerse themselves in new worlds together. Together, they have the opportunity to develop and discuss tailor-made applications for their own professional practice.
What is the HUB?
Unique interior design and pioneering technologies come together in the hub - paired with professional expertise. Here it is possible not only to discover the future, but to help shape it! Unlike a laboratory, this place is deliberately designed as a hub that is open to all interested parties.
How can I reach the HUB?
The hub is located in building 6 of the FernUniversität in Hagen, entrance via the university library.

Accessibility is a given in the ICH

Sufficient university parking spaces are available to all visitors
What is the Open Experience Area?
This area is designed as a creative center that supports a variety of teaching and learning situations. It is flexibly designed to facilitate both group work and individual projects and its equipment promotes interactive and collaborative learning methods.
What is the tracking and experimentation room?
This room forms the heart of research and development activities relating to virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR). The technological equipment makes it possible to precisely develop and analyze complex interactions and movements in virtual environments.
What is in the Content Creation Lab?
Here you will find workstations with powerful computer systems that are particularly suitable for (3D) content creation. Photogrammetry scanners are also available to digitally capture real objects and transfer them into virtual worlds.
What am I doing in the control room?
The control room is the command center from which all processes in the tracking and experimentation room can be controlled. There are two workstations here with powerful computer systems that enable precise control and fast processing.
What is the lounge?
In the lounge, guests can relax between activities in an inviting atmosphere, talk to each other and watch the 3D projection wall. The lounge is an ideal place to linger and network.
When can I visit the ICH?
Monday from 10 AM to 4 PM, Tuesday to Thursday from 10 AM to 6 PM, and Friday from 10 AM to 2 PM.
Can I hire the Ich for my own events?
If you would like to rent the HUB premises for a workshop or meeting with a short tour of the Hub, this is also possible.
Does the HUB offer catering?
The canteen can provide catering. For a specific request, please contact the ICH staff.
How do I become a partner?
